National Study: Presbyterian Named America’s 100 Best For Multiple Clinical Areas

Release Date:

October 24, 2016

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Presbyterian Hospital* has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery, Joint Replacement Surgery, Stroke Care, and Pulmonary Care.

Presbyterian’s achievement is part of findings released on October 18, 2016 in the Healthgrades 2017 Report to the Nation. Healthgrades, the leading online resource helping consumers make informed decisions, evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. It identified the 100 best-performing hospitals across all conditions or procedures evaluated within Orthopedics, Neurology, and Pulmonary Care. Healthgrades found that patients treated at hospitals receiving the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award have, on average, a 60.3 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.

“We are honored to be included among the nation’s 100 Best Hospitals in these important clinical areas,” said Kathy Davis, RN, Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer for Presbyterian Healthcare Services. “These latest Healthgrades awards recognize Presbyterian’s commitment to caring for our patients. These awards would not be possible without the incredible dedication of our providers and care teams.”

Presbyterian Hospital has also been recognized as a 5-Star Recipient for Treatment of Heart Attack, Heart Failure, and Carotid Surgery, and among the Top 5 percent in the Nation for the Treatment of Stroke, Pulmonary Services and Top 10 percent for General Surgery and Critical Care in 2017, among other honors. See below for the full list of 2017 Healthgrades Recognitions.

“The Healthgrades 2017 Report to the Nation reveals striking disparities in the quality observed among the Nation’s hospitals, and underscores why it is vital for consumers to understand outcomes performance at specific hospiatals for specific conditions and procedures,” said Evan Marks, Chief Strategy Officer for Healthgrades. “Those hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 100 Best for Orthopedic Surgery, Joint Replacement Surgery, Stroke Care, and Pulmonary Care distinction have demonstrated a commitment to exceptional quality of care.”
